Access City Award 2015
The Access City Award is one of the actions foreseen in the EU disability strategy that aims at making Europe barrier-free. It is organised by the Commission together with the European Disability Forum. The Award aims to encourage cities with at least 50,000 inhabitants to share their experience and to improve accessibility for the benefit of all.
The winner is Swedish city of Borås, Helsinki (Finland) took the second prize and the third prize was awarded to Ljubljana (Slovenia). We are so proud.
Ensuring accessibility for persons with disabilities has been for many years one of the priorities and ongoing activities of the Municipality of Ljubljana. These activities are integrated into all areas of activity, especially in the field of spatial planning, transport infrastructure development, provision of public services and social activities such as education, culture, sports, social care and health.
