Open-Air Cinema at Ljubljana Castle Starts
The courtyard of Ljubljana Castle will turn into an open-air cinema again on 2 July for the 12th Film Under the Stars festival that will bring 24 consecutive evenings with what are mostly the biggest arthouse hits of the past year.
The festival, a joint project of the Kinodvor cinema and Ljubljana Castle, will open with “The Salt of the Earth”, a film which examines the life and work of the Brazilian photographer Sebastiao Salgado.
A number of the most celebrated films of the past year will follow, including the winners of the festivals in Cannes, Berlin in Venice, Oscar-nominated films, the best-visited Kinodvor films and films that did well at last-year’s Ljubljana Film Festival (LIFFe).
Also on the programme are a few excellent documentaries and films particularity well-suited for open-air viewing, such as “Interstellar”, and “Mad Max: Fury Road”.
The list moreover includes three advance premieres: “Far from Men” by David Oelhoffen, “45 Years” by Andrew Haigh and the Amy Winehouse documentary “Amy” by Asif Kapadia.
The screenings will start each evening at 9:30 PM. The Kinodvor theatre will serve as back-up venue in case of bad weather. The tickets are already available.
